With gratitude and sadness, we announce Adam Clarke's departure at season's end. He leaves an indelible mark as our Head Coach, Captain, and Chairman.

Dear Members,

It is with a mixture of gratitude and sadness (and perhaps a bit of relief for the opposition bowlers) that we announce the departure of Adam Clarke at the end of this season. Adam has decided to move on to new ventures, but not before leaving an indelible mark on OWCC as our Head Coach, First XI Captain, and Chairman.

Let’s talk numbers:

- Games Played: 171 (That’s a lot of weekends!)
- Total Runs: 3,327
- Highest Score for OWCC: 101

Adam has seen it all at Croham Road. But, beyond the numbers, his true contribution has been the spirit and soul he has poured into this club, always with a smile.

Under Adam’s watchful eye, Old Whitgiftians Cricket Club did not just survive, it thrived. The 1st XI bounced back from the disappointment of relegation to become consistent contenders for promotion under his captaincy. As Chairman, he led the club successfully through the difficulties and uncertainties of the pandemic with a blend of tenacity and humor that only Adam could inspire. Despite our relatively small size, Adam has been instrumental in turning us into a club that punches well above its weight, leading the coaching of our junior players (many of whom have represented their age groups at county level for Surrey, Kent & Sussex). In addition, Adam has always had faith in our most talented academy players, promoting them into 1st XI cricket.

But all good things must come to an end, and as Adam prepares to embark on his next adventure, we want to say a huge thank you. Adam, your contributions to the club are too numerous to list (though we had fun trying). You’ll be sorely missed—not just for your cricketing prowess, but for the way you’ve kept us striving to be better, both on and off the field.

Fortunately, Adam isn’t leaving us just yet. He will be with us until the end of the season, ensuring a smooth handover. Subject to ratification at the AGM, the committee has proposed that Shirish Patel will take over as Chairman, Nikhil Patel as First XI Captain, and Vishal Khetia as Head Coach. They will be stepping into these roles as co-chairmen, co-captains, and co-head coaches until Adam officially steps down.

So, here’s to Adam Clarke— You have led Old Whitgiftians Cricket Club with distinction and dedication, and given us countless memories. We thank you for everything. Your legacy will be cherished and your influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

With our deepest appreciation,

The OWCC Committee
